I was disappointed in this book and the manner in which the information was presented.
The book covers a lot of approaches to paint flowers in watercolor, but the instructions are frequently vague and confusing to understand. Many of the explanations about how a technique is done involves showing an almost finished painting along with a long paragraph explaining things. Example: On "Painting with a Palette Knife" lesson, the page has a long column of informational paragraphs. The second paragraph says, "Paint a subject first and very loosely sketch it on your paper. Next, use your knife to pick up two, three or more colors on(e) at a time, using primarily dark colors. The tip as well as the sharp edge of the knife can be used to apply paint to the paper. When your finished appying dark colors, wipe your knife clean and pick up some lighter colors (for the background, perhaps). There is no picture of ANY process using a knife--only close-ups of a highly detailed and professionally mastered painting of a flower.--nothing that showed you how it was done and when. The book has some mini-demonstrations that are OK, but still hard to follow easily. The instructions were again frequently quite vague and confusing. This is definitely not on the top of my list for watercolor books. I was disappointed.
