Real help for millions of anxious and depressed
As a family physician, trying to help patients with depression and crippling anxiety for the past 30 or 40 years, I have been frustrated and often felt powerless in my efforts. I came into practice in the decade before Prozac was released and marketed as the pharmacologic "fix". Despite whatever early improvement could be had from antidepressant medications, patients very often throughout their lifetime suffered terribly with psychological and emotional pain that simply could not be remedied with a pill.
Finally, what makes such intuitive sense ( humans are intended to live in groups, communities, tribes) that our life experiences, as well as class, economic security, early adverse childhood trauma (either negative or positive) have a profound
impact on us emotionally, psychologically, socially, has been documented with not just anecdotes, but with years of research. Many thanks to this author. I am eager to share the book with patients, colleagues and friends.
