Indiana Jones and the Genesis Deluge is the fourth of twelve Indiana Jones novels published in the 1990s. This series, officially licensed by Lucasfilm, is inspired by the Indiana Jones character who first appeared in 1981 with the movie Raiders of the Lost Ark. Rob MacGregor authored the first six books including The Genesis Deluge. Martin Caidin wrote the seventh and eighth books, and Max McCoy wrote the last four.
The events of this book take place in 1917 and 1927. This story combines elements typically found in an Indiana Jones adventure: an artifact of historical/religious significance (Noah's Ark), unique and interesting locations (Chicago in 1927 and Turkey), and bad guys (Russian agents and Turkish Janissaries) hot on the trail of Indiana Jones. As in The Peril at Delphi and The Dance of the Giants (the first and second books in the series), Jack Shannon, Indy's friend from college, plays an important role in the story. In fact, I missed Shannon in The Seven Veils and I was glad that MacGregor brought back this interesting character from Indy's college days at the University of Chicago.
I thought this was one of the better books in the series. I learned about Chicago, Al Capone, Istanbul, Ankara, Cappadocia, and Mount Ararat. Despite being the fourth book in the series, this book can be enjoyed by itself. Get out your map of Turkey because you will need it as you follow the trail of action, adventure, and Indiana Jones in this entertaining book.

fun and entertaining
Indiana Jones and the Genesis Deluge was an entertaining adventure book for those who like the archaeological adventures of Indy Jones. It is fast paced and full of action, just like the movies. It also gives the reader a more multi-faceted look into the character of Indy Jones that most people know only from the movies.
