This wonderful book includes the paintings and illustrations made by a Scotsman touring the middle east. It may be the best existing documentation of the Holyland before the invention of photography. It shows the bleak landscape and isolation of the biblical towns, villages and historical sites. Roberts illustrations are excellent and the book which follows his 1939 trip, pairs them with current views of the same views. Recommended!
