I happen to be personally a connecting link between the two discussions, and the outward form which they have assumed follows naturally from the subject-matter. But the occasions which gave rise to them are wholly distinct, and the fact that both give expression to views opposed to mine must not be taken to imply any further concert or alliance between my critics.
