For obvious reasons the diabetic diets have a greater caloric value than the regular hospital diets, as these cases are so habitually undernourished. No hard-and-fast line has been drawn between the requirements of men and women requiring purin-free, low-calcium, or salt-poor diets, as the cases requiring these diets are never numerous in a hospital ward.
