Once again the Landon family is on another National Parks adventure thanks to Dr. Olivia Landon, wife, mother and veterarian to wild animals. This time their adventure takes Olivia, Steven, Jack , Ashley and their foster child Bridger Conley to the Everglades in Florida. Olivia has been called upon to investigate the mysterious deaths of the endangered manatee. With mother Olivia working and father Steven helping her, the kids are left in the care of an old and very dear friend Frankie Gardell, owner and Captain of the fishing boat Pescadillo. Frankie takes the kids into the glades where they will do some fishing but not without an ensuing adventure. They find a pelican entangled in some fishing line with a hook in its pouch. Frankie drops the kids off to fish while she takes the pelican to a rescue center. While on Watson Place, Jack is taking some interesting wildlife photos when a stranger in a boat pulls up to the dock where the kids are taking pictures and fishing. The stranger asks to see Jack's camera but he does not heed Bridger's warning and it is snatched from him. The stranger starts his boat and leaves the kids staring at his wake. In the process he skims over a mother manatee and injures her. Along with trying to find the camera snatcher, Olivia is trying to figure out just what is mysteriously killing the manatees. and the sheriff's department is trying to figure out if this camera thief even exists except in the imagination of Jack, Bridger and Ashley. I don't think you will put it down until you are done reading it.
