Another great addition to the Dark series
Surprises are in abundance in this story. Manuel "Manolito" De La Cruz is taken home to the rainforest to heal from his near death experience at the Carpathian Christmas celebration. Maryann Delaney goes to the rainforest as well. Maryann is Destiny's best friend (Dark Destiny) and a counselor for abused women. It is her hope as well as Colby's (Dark Secret) than Maryann can help Juliette's sister (Dark Hunger) Jasmine and perhaps their cousin Solange. Once there Maryann can't get over her depression, though she doesn't know what's causing it. Manolito wakes from his rest earlier than he should when he hears and feels Maryann's despair. Upon waking he finds himself thrust into a bizarre situation he can not understand. He can't remember where his life mate is or even her name. A true battle of wills plays out between Manolito and Maryann. His confusion over their relationship baffles her. Yet her compassion wins out as she tries to help him. She's just not sure she's life mate material, especially to a dominate Carpathian male.

Latin Menand the women who tame them
Christine writes with a love of history and a wealth of knowledge about her chosen subject. In this novel we get to watch one of the De La Cruz brothers fall in love so fast it happened in another book. The beauty of this book is that the heroine wants to resist with every fiber of her being. She is so afraid of abusive men and Manolito forgot to go to sensitivity class, thereby making the book a tug of hearts and a call from soul to soul. It's the first book of hers where you really don't know who wins in the end... and that's not always a good thing. There is more humor in this book as well so it balances with all the deep emotion. Do yourself a favor and read "A Dark Celebration" first. Great book.
