I for one, fell in love with Zarek. I wanted to take him home with me and make him warm and happy. This was a very touching story which made me want to both laugh & cry. For his entire life, Zarek has been tortured & made to feel useless in ways you cannot imagine. It makes you want to hold him tight & make everything all better. I am not usually big on fantasy novels, but I have to recommend the Dark Hunter series. They are not like your normal romances and gives it something a little different to liven things up. I have read four books in the series so far, and have to say I will probably read them all!

A Man you love to Hate!
I have read all of the DH books and this one captured me in a way none of the rest of them did. Most of the Dark Hunters are Warriors from the past who become Heroes in the now. Zarek is NOT that kind of Character. He is the kind of person many of us wish at times in life we could act like, but our upbringing or sense of honor keep us from taking action. This is a great story of a victim of such hatred and treachery that his heart is hidden under layer after layer of anger and sarcasm. I think I dated him. It is a surprisingly poignant view of a lifestyle I hope the author has no personal knowledge of. It is a powerful book with powerful feelings. I cried. I laughed. I cheered.
