Aside from the cheesy cover, the book is very good. This is my 4th or 5th Pamela Clare book and I really enjoy her writing. This is the first modern story of Ms. Clare that I've read and it is equally enjoyable as her historical series. Each of her characters touch the lives of her other books characters but they have their own story. This one is about Deputy US Marsahall Zach McBride whose life intersect the life of reporter Natalie Benoit down in Mexico and their escape from the Mexican drug cartel. Zach is escaping the loss of his war buddies in his work and Natalie is escaping the loss of her parents and fiancé by taking an brief convention in Mexico. It has good character development and sensual love scenes in the midst of all the suspense. A very talented writer and I highly recommend this book.
