Stark, beautifully written tales of the life and times of the fictional Bran mak Morn, last King of the Picts. His conflicts with Rome in "Worms of the Earth" is one of the best "Native people vs Ruthless Conqueror" studies ever seen in fiction (by this reader, of course). Also here is "The Dark Man", a tale of Black Turlogh O'Brien, an amalgamation of Cormac mac Art and Kirby O'Donnell, and one of the best characters ever penned by Howard.
