Robert Ervin Howard (January 22, 1906 - June 11, 1936) was a writer from the United States. He wrote a wide variety of pulp fiction in a variety of genres. He is considered as the father of the sword and sorcery subgenre, having invented the character Conan the Barbarian. Howard was born in Texas and raised there.
