Seller's Description:
Used-Very Good. On the occasion of Diana Cooper's first solo museum exhibition, at the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland, this volume features an unprecedented collection of the New York artist's works on paper, 'hybrid construction' wall reliefs and installations. Cooper is an immensely talented yet still relatively under-recognized artist who has consistently experimented with the practice of drawing--on paper, canvas, the wall and into three-dimensional space. Since first embracing felt-tipped markers as a primary medium, Cooper has taken doodling and geometric abstraction to the extreme, unabashedly transforming line and form into exuberant, semi-abstract works. Her visually rich and densely layered creations represent imaginary systems or networks with open-ended references to communication and transportation systems, electric or digital conduits, computer circuit boards--the underlying infrastructures and interconnecting channels of contemporary life. The work is bold, colorful, wildly inventive and substantive in its commentary on the vulnerability of systems, human beings and the relationship of order and chaos in our inextricably networked world. This first major monograph includes full-color plates and multiple details, accompanied by an interview between Cooper and Barbara Pollack.
