And, of course, the singers are blessed by Johnson's superbly sympathetic accompaniments as the disc is graced by his extraordinarily well-written program notes. As with any Lieder recital, however, the success of this 1816 Schubertiad rests with the singers and Johnson has once again engaged singers well suited for their material.
