MFK Fisher writes about what she knows best: people, family, community and food. Her memoir brings out not only what her life was like, but also describes life in the US early in the 20th century -- That French Fries were called "Freedom Fries" -- now where have we heard that before -- bigotry, racism, and the separation of the classes that was the way of life at the time.
