Seller's Description:
VG/VG-, light wear to DJ edges, book in very good condition; SIGNED BY THE COLLECTORS. Black cloth, black illus. DJ. 162 pp. Profuse color plates. "Offered as an informal tour of June and Joe Hennage's outstanding collection of American antiques and complementary objects. The collection is presented first in room views that show it in situ at Hennage House on South England Street in Williamsburg, and then in separate illustrations that provide an opportunity for closer inspection of many individual pieces. The text combines general comments on the styles and forms shown with collecting stories and lore that relate to both the Hennages and earlier collectors. So seldom have our collectors been profiled along with their collections that we Americans are accustomed to knowing virtually nothing about the motives and goals of the creators of our greatest antiques and art collections. It was in an effort to break that pattern and to capture the flavor of the collectors as well as of the collection that we chose the present format." (dj).
