This is a very well written fictional account of sexual abuse between a father and son. The use of flashbacks when Daniel returns home adds depth and a deeper understanding of what he went through at the hands of his father. But more importantly this story points out the uncontrollable sexual feelings of the father for his son and how he tries to avoid any kind of contact (literally & figuaratively) with him, although Daniel wants to confront him. The last chapter is the most explosive and telling. It literally shows the increased heartbeat of the father in hospital (since he is hooked up to an EKG) when Daniel gets close to him. I could not put this book down. Great character development of Mother and sister and their dynamics within this dysfunctional family. Both of these characters also add to the dimension and feelings of Daniel.
