I rate this book only 4 stars because it's just not as good as the 1st three books. Still a very good read.
This is the story of Fanny Becket and Valentine Clement the Earl of Brede. Fanny follows her brother into battle disguised as a boy, but is quickly found out. Valentine, a spy for the British, who gives her brother Rian a job as an aide, is quickly put in charge of her care. He pawns her off on his sister, but of course she just won't sit still while her brother is in danger. Rian isn't her blood brother and has been enamoured with him since she was little, however the pull toward Valentine is just too much for her to resist and she finds herself deeply in love with him instead. The reader also learns more of the past behind the Becket family in this book.
