A Primer in Genome Sciences bridges the gap between standard genetics textbooks and highly specialized, technical, and advanced treatments of the sub-disciplines. It provides an affordable and up-to-date introduction to the field that is well suited to advanced undergraduate or early graduate courses. Bioinformatic principles and experimental strategies are explained side-by-side with the experimental methods, establishing a framework that allows teachers to explore topics and the literature at their own pace. Each of the Primer's six chapters includes: exercises that can be worked by students using the internet and freely available software for analysis of genomic data; discussion questions; a summary; and suggestions for further reading. An Appendix includes a glossary of terms, with a brief review of key genetic concepts.
