Seller's Description:
Fine in Very Good jacket. Appreciated as one of the best Irish authors of the mid-XXth Century, Paddy Kavanagh's works are elusive in the trade. Mentored by A.E., he was encouraged to give up farming for literature, and the world is better for it. "The Green Fool" was initially published in 1938, whereupon Kavanagh was sued by Oliver St. John Gogarty for the close mentioning of Gogarty's wife with his mistress; oddly to us, Gogarty won his suit, the book was withdrawn, and later the two became good friends. This is a Fine copy of the Second Printing of the 1971 reissue. Black paper-covered boards with gilt lettering on the spine. Clean text; 350 pages. The dustwrapper is unclipped; it has some minor wrinkling at the margins and a small tear to the upper left of the front cover. In an archival plastic protector. Size: 8vo-over 7¾"-9¾" tall.
