Seller's Description:
Richard Ward. Good. The format is approximately. 7.25 inches by 9.75 inches. Unpaginated. Illustrated cover. Illustrated (some in color). This is Arco-Aircam Aviation Series No. 25 (Vol. 1). The Arco-Aircam Aviation Series of books were the US editions of the British Aircam Aviation Series from Osprey Publishing. Each title took a largely pictorial look at a classic military aircraft type, or the camouflage and markings worn by various military air arms and flying units. After 5-6 pages of concise text introducing the subject, the remainder of each book comprised b+w photographs, 8 pages of color profile artwork and 3-4 pages of small plan-view tone drawings, showing the upper and lower surfaces of the aircraft illustrated in color. Martin C. Windrow (born 1944) is a British historian, editor and author of several hundred books, articles and monographs, particularly on military history, and the history of the post-war French Foreign Legion. His most notable works include The Last Valley, an account of the Battle of Dien Bien Phu during the First Indochina War, which was published in 2004 to "critical acclaim", and Our Friends beneath the Sands. He began working as an editor of articles on military and aviation history in the 1970s. He is an Associate of the Royal Historical Society and the Foreign Legion Association of Great Britain. Richard Ward 1916-1993 was an Artist and Illustrator who was self taught and produced artwork for the Brooke Bond tea picture card series, aircraft illustrations for 'Profiles' series of magazines and cards for Noel Tatt; served in the war in the RAF; produced artwork for BR (SR) post WWII series. Luftwaffe Colour Schemes and Markings 1935-45 is one of many in the 'Aircam Aviation' series. The book begins with 12 pages of text explaining the broad principles of Luftwaffe colour schemes and tactical markings. Illustrations include over 70 well captioned photographs, around 50 colour profiles, and a similar number of black and white drawings. Much of the book concentrates on fighter units, (other types are covered in No. 26, Luftwaffe volume 2. The 50 pages of the book proviedes a very basic coverage of such a large subject-enjoyable.
