Always Excellent in the land of Ms. Blake
Book 16 of the Anite Blake Vampire Hunter series shows us more into the lesser known characters rather then just focusing on the basic Jan Claude, Anita and Richard and their joing of powers. Jason, who in previous books was only used for food or for lust, becomes the main male character of this book. We are shown more of his past and his feelings for Anita, and that tunes us more into how Anita feels for her friends and the men that are close in her life. Ms Hamilton has been making Anita into a softer character as of the past couple books and this turns her into a more likeable and readable character. And yes of course, there are the several graphic sex scenes that fill every book from both this series and the Merry Gentry series. These scenes are something of a thrill and slight reassurance that Ms. Hamilton knows that we need more then just violence and creatures that bump in the night to keep our interest.
I throughly enjoyed the book and look forward to the publication of Book 17. I find myself not wanting to do anything else but read the newest book when it comes out, so I can see how my favorite fictional charaters are surviving. Kudos for another exceptional novel.
