ZHOU Zhenhua is currently the Dean of Shanghai Institute for Global City, the People's Republic of China. ZHOU Zhenhua is currently the Dean of Shanghai Institute for Global City, the People's Republic of China. He is an economist and was, until recently, the Director of the Development Research Center, Shanghai Municipal People's Government. He is also the President of Shanghai Economic Society. He graduated from Mudanjiang Teachers College in 1982 and Fujian Normal University in 1985, receiving a bachelor's degree in law and a master's degree in economics, respectively. During 1985-1987, he taught at the Department of Economics in Nanjing University. He completed his doctorate in Economics from Renmin University of China, in 1990. ZHOU has taught and served as the Deputy Director at the Institute of Economic Research, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. For about three decades, he has been engaged in the study of urban development strategies and policies and has published several books and journal articles. The books he has published include: The Development of Service Economy: A General Trend of the Changing Economy in China (2015) and the edited volume World City: International Lessons and Shanghai's Development (2004).
