Yolanda Alaniz
Yolanda Alaniz was born in Brownsville, Texas to migrant farmworker parents. She grew up working in the fields of eastern Washington and later became an activist in the labor, women's, and Chicano movement. She is co-editor of the anthology Voices of Color (1999) and was the first Chicana to run for Seattle City Council in 1991.
