Walt Hazelton is a retired financial manager from Xerox Corporation which he worked at from 1964 to 1994. He then was hired by Gunn Partners which is a prestigious consulting firm and worked for them until 2015. During those years in published several articles in a national magazine . He also authored a book entitled "Dear Folks" which relates his father's experience in the Great War. Walt graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1959 with a degree in Mechanic Engineering after which he was an officer in the US Navy for three years. He then went back to Penn to earn an MBA degree at the Wharton School. Card games have been a passion for Walt since he was a teenager. Bridge was an early favorite, but poker soon took priority. When Texas Hold'Em became popular in the late 19th century Walt quickly adopted it and started playing on-line as well as in local tournaments. After a number of years he noticed how many mistakes many players were making by over-estimating the value of their cards. He decided that the game could use a systematic approach and he applied the same method that Charles Gorem developed for the game of bridge to Texas Hold'em which he then tested in live games over the next few years. After seeing how well it worked for himself he wrote this book. Walt lives with his wife, Lynn, in Fairport, New York. They have 3 very successful children and 7 grandchildren. Woodworking has been one of Walt's hobbies especially in making different kinds of furniture. He has also participated in several sports included golf and volleyball. His seniors volleyball team played in a number of tournaments around the country. See less
