W. Rocky Newman is a professor of supply chain management at Miami University. He has a Ph.D. from The University of Iowa (1988) and both an MBA (1981) and a B.S. in Business Administration (1980) from Bowling Green State University. Professor Newman teaches in the areas of operations management, supply chain management, and manufacturing strategy. His research interests include manufacturing strategy, environmental issues in manufacturing, supply chain management as well as the implementation of advanced manufacturing technologies. His work has been published in several journals including: the International Journal of Production Research, The Journal of Production and Inventory Management, The Journal of Manufacturing Systems, The International Journal of Flexible Manufacturing Systems, the Mid American Journal of Business, The International Journal of Operations and Production Management, The International Journal of Production Economics, The International Journal of Forecasting, Integrated Manufacturing Systems, The International Journal of Quality and Reliability Management, and others. He is the past editor of the Mid American Journal of Business and still serves on the editorial advisory board it as well as for the Journal of Operations Management, The International Journal of Services and Operation Management, and the Quality Management Journal.
