Virginia Jackson is UCI Endowed Chair in Rhetoric in the Departments of English and Comparative Literature at University of California, Irvine. She is the author of Dickinson's Misery: A Theory of Lyric Reading , which won the Christian Gauss Award, and Modern Language Association Prize for a First Book.
