Venkatesh Uddameri, Ph.D., P.E. is a professor in the department of civil, environmental and construction engineering at Texas Tech University where he also serves as the director of the Texas Tech University Water Resources Center. Venkatesh Uddameri, Ph.D., P.E. is a professor in the department of civil, environmental and construction engineering at Texas Tech University where he also serves as the director of the Texas Tech University Water Resources Center. His research interests broadly cover sustainable water resources management with a particular emphasis on groundwater systems. He has published extensively in the areas of groundwater modeling and management and has authored or co-authored over 100 journal articles, book chapters, technical reports, conference proceedings and abstracts. He received the American Petroleum Institute/National Ground Water Association (API-NGWA) scholarship during his doctoral studies. Dr. Uddameri has maintained an active research program that has been funded by a variety of federal, state and local agencies including the National Science Foundation (NSF), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), US Department of Energy (DOE), US Department of Defense (DoD), US Department of Agriculture (USDA), Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board (TSSWCB), Maine Department of Environmental Protection (MDEP), California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA) as well as several local Groundwater Conservation Districts including Victoria County Groundwater Conservation District, Kenedy County Groundwater Conservation District, Refugio Groundwater Conservation District, Goliad County Groundwater Conservation District. Irion and Sterling Counties Groundwater Districts and Texana Groundwater Conservation District in Texas. He has served as an expert witness and technical consultant on many projects related to groundwater modeling, management, groundwater monitoring network design and geological sequestration of carbon dioxide. Dr. Uddameri serves as the Associate Editor for the Journal of the American Water Resources Association (JAWRA) and also served as a guest editor for the Environmental Earth Sciences Journal. He served on the Editorial Board of the Clean Technologies and Environmental Policy Journal from 2004 2014. He represented National Ground Water Association (NGWA) in the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) sponsored Workshop on the Importance of Water to the US Economy. He was invited to brief the White House on his research activities. He was an invited plenary speaker at the Arab Academy of Sciences Annual Conference. He has established several international collaborations in India, Jordan, Brazil and Mexico on groundwater related issues. He has chaired 4 several sessions in national conferences and was the Co-Chair for the Air and Waste Management Association (A&WMA) specialty conference on Fracturing Impacts and Technology held in Aug, 2014. Dr. Uddameri has published two books GIS and Geocomputation in Water Resource Science and Engineering (co-authored with B. Dixon) was published by John Wiley and Sons and American Geophysical Union (AGU) in Feb 2016 (ISBN: 978-1-118-35413-1). He also co-edited a book Hydraulic Fracturing Impacts and Technology A Multidisciplinary Perspective, (editors: V. Uddameri, A. Morse and K. Tindle) was published by CRC Press in June 2015 (ISBN: 9781498721172). Dr. Uddameri, has developed and taught several courses related to groundwater modeling, management and data analysis.
