"Ulli Michel" began his news photography career in 1983 as a trainee with Deutsche Presse Agentur in Frankfurt and Stuggart. After two years there, he joined Reuters as a staff photographer in Bonn and Hamburg. In 1986 he moved to Brussels as a photographer/sub-editor on the European picture desk, then spent nearly nine months in Dubai covering the tanker war. Ulli was Chief Photographer in Johannesburg from September, 1988 and in 1991 he took up the job of Asian Deputy Picture Editor in Hong Kong. He has based there until 1993, before further two-year stints as Chief Photographer in Bonn and Moscow. Since 1977, he has lived in London and works as Global Pictures Editor. See less
