Tim Hetherington
Award-winning photographer and filmmaker Tim Hetherington spent eight years living and working in West Africa, four focused on Liberia. He first arrived in Liberia in 1999. During this time he was detained and threatened by then president Charles Taylor's notorious Anti-Terrorist Unit. In the 2003 Liberian Civil War, he was one of two journalists to live behind rebel lines. In April 2011 he was killed in the besieged city of Misurata, Libya.
