She received her bachelor's degree in Spanish Language and Literature and a master's degree in Spanish Languages at UNAM. She holds a diploma in Literature and Philosophy for Children (UIB) and has a PhD in Modern Literature by Iberoamerican University. Isabel Surez was a pioneer in children's and youth literature in our country. Born in the state of Veracruz (1908-2012), she began her professional career following the first edition of the Antoniorrobles Prize, convened by the IBBY during the First Children and Youth Book Fair of 1980.
