Susan Rescorla's life was turned upside down by the death of her husband Retired Army Colonel Rick Rescorla on 9/11, and not only for the obvious reasons. The role Rick played on 9/11 as Morgan Stanley's Second Vice President for Corporate Security in getting all but 13 of the firm's nearly 2,700 employees out of the World Trade Center's South Tower received worldwide attention. Susan was unexpectedly swept into a public role of accepting medals and awards posthumously for her husband, and being bombarded by the media. Susan had little choice but to bury her grief to whatever extent possible in order to carry on her husband's legacy. The years since September 11, 2001, have been and continue to be hard, yet they have also given Susan the opportunity to connect with the many people whose lives were touched by Rick. Susan has wanted to write a book that not only preserved the legacy of Rick Rescorla, a genuine American hero, but also hopes to inspired others to find the hero within themselves, the strength to heal from the trauma of loss, and ultimately reawaken to life. Providing editorial assistance to Susan was David Sandler, a communication's consultant, educator and journalist. See less
