Susan Mingins Bibas was born in 1929 and raised in Forest Hills, New York. At an early age, she auditioned to be a child actress on TV and radio-and even tried out for the part of Darla in the Our Gang series (which later became known as The Little Rascals). Susan Mingins Bibas was born in 1929 and raised in Forest Hills, New York. She also -modeled for several magazines and department store ads. Later on, she attended Penn State University, where she studied journalism. After graduation, she worked for McCann Erickson as an executive secretary during the pre-feminist "Mad Men" era. There she met Frank Bibas, who at the time was head of McCann's TV production department. They married and moved to Los Angeles, where Frank was contracted to work as a film director at Hal Roach Studios (he later won an Oscar). Eventually, they moved back to New York where they raised their four children. Susan wrote Barbara's World in 1977 about the adventures of her oldest daughter, Barbara, during her early years in California. See less
