Suleman Ahmer
Ahmer decided in 1992 to volunteer as a relief worker in Bosnia while studying at the University of Nebraska. Suleman was detained by the Bosnian Croat Militia and put in a concentration camp. After being released, he returned to his studies in the fall of 1993. In 1994 Suleman joined Benevolence International Foundation, a Muslim relief agency based in Chicago, where he served in different capacities, most recently as the Executive Director.
