Sue Buck's foray into writing has been a collaborative effort resulting in "My Friend Tom".Like many Australian Europeans, Sue had never before engaged with an Aboriginal person. A chance encounter in the city and a new friendship soon took her on an astonishing journey of discovery.Listening and learning of inequity, inequality and racism, Sue's world was shaken.A strong advocate on environmental and human rights issues, Sue felt compelled to give Tom a voice, express her gratitude and tell of her amazing and sometimes unsettling experience in learning of the beautiful First Nations People and the knowledge they hold; knowledge which could be shared for a better world.Sue's brother John, an artist residing in Melbourne, liked the simplicity of the message of the book and encouraged its publishing. He provided the illustrations.Born and living in metropolitan Perth, Western Australia, Sue is married with two adult daughters and a beautiful grandson. She recently resigned from her job as a project manager so she could spend more time with her 'grannie'. She enjoys the outdoors and spends time travelling and camping when she can. See less
