Simon J. James is currently lecturer in Victorian literature at the University of Durham, and has taught at the Universities of Cambridge and Salford. His research interests lie mainly in late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century fiction. He has published on George Gissing, HG Wells, and literature and visual art; his interests also include Charles Dickens, masculinity in literature and contemporary fiction.
