Sean Sayers is Emeritus Professor of Philosophy at the University of Kent and Visiting Professor at Peking University. He was educated at Cambridge and Oxford Universities, and has taught in Colorado, Sydney, Istanbul, Massachusetts, Beijing, Wuhan and Shanghai. He has been a central figure in the development of Marxist philosophy in the English-speaking world. He has an international reputation for his work on Hegelian and Marxist philosophy which has been translated into Chinese, French, German, Greek, Japanese, Korean, and Turkish. His books include Marx and Alienation (2009), Plato's Republic: An Introduction (1999), Marxism and Human Nature (1998), Reality and Reason (1985), and Hegel, Marx and Dialectic: A Debate (1980).
