Sandra Every Dean spent the greater part of her professional career as head of The Philadelphia School (1983-2006). Prior to that time, she taught elementary and middle school students in both public and independent schools. Sandra Every Dean spent the greater part of her professional career as head of The Philadelphia School (1983-2006). Prior to that time, she taught elementary and middle school students in both public and independent schools. Dean had the opportunity and, as she puts it, the "privilege" to put into action an educational philosophy that trusted and respected teachers as professionals, ensured that each student and family was known and valued, and encouraged students to be engaged and active participants in their own learning. Dean has a B.S. in economics from the Wharton School and an Ed.D. from the Penn Graduate School of Education. Currently an educational consultant, she lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. See less
