Sami Moubayed is a Syrian political analyst. He is one of the most prominent experts on pre-1963 Syria. Moubayed is based in Damascus. His book Steel & Silk includes profiles of men and women who have been important in the development of the Syrian nation. Moubayed's two previous books are titled: "The Politics of Damascus 1920-1946" and "Damascus Between Democracy and Dictatorship." Moubayed comes from an old Damascus merchant family and continues to work in the family business. He is one of the founders of the Syrian Young Entrepreneurs Association (SYEA). Moubayed was born in London, raised in Syria, and completed his education at the American University of Beirut (AUB) and the University of Exeter.
