Sally Ride

Sally Ride became the first American woman in space in 1983, when she flew aboard the space shuttle Challenger on NASA's seventh space shuttle mission. Over her career as an astronaut she logged more than 343 hours in space. She was a professor at San Diego University and the Director of the California Space Institute. Sally Ride lived in southern California.
