Sallust
Sallust (86 - c. 35 BC), was a Roman historian and politician from an Italian plebeian family. Probably born at Amiternum in the country of the Sabines, Sallust became a partisan of Julius Caesar (100 to 44 BC) around 50 BC. During his political career he amassed great and ill-gotten wealth from his governorship of Africa.On his return to Rome he purchased and began laying out the famous Gardens of Sallust, which were later inherited by the emperors.
