Said Shehata
Said Shehata, MD was born and raised in Alexandria, Egypt. He graduated first in his class from Alexandria University's Faculty of Medicine, where he also completed surgical training and a Ph.D. Dr. Shehata also served as a faculty member at Alexandria University Medical School and as a surgeon at the University Hospital. Said Shehata, MD was born and raised in Alexandria, Egypt. He graduated first in his class from Alexandria University's Faculty of Medicine, where he also completed surgical training and a Ph.D. Dr. Shehata also served as a faculty member at Alexandria University Medical School and as a surgeon at the University Hospital. He was drafted during the 1967 Arab-Israeli War and worked as medical doctor in a MASH unit close to the front lines. In 1970, he moved to England and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. He subsequently immigrated to the United States in 1972 and continued vascular surgery training at the University of Arizona, in Tucson. He was twice certified by the American Board of Surgery and had a long and highly successful career as a surgeon in Ohio, before retiring in 2000. In addition to a number of academic medical publications, he is also the author of an autobiography entitled Out of Egypt, published in 2016. See less
