Rosemarie Menager, Ed.D. is a psychology professor at Foothill College. A graduate of USCas Rossiter School of Education Human Performance Technology cohort, she did her dissertation on student success in online learning. She has a long-term interest in student support, learning, motivation, and curricula design. Dr. Menager is a frequent speaker at conferences and consultant to schools. She is the originator of aEducate First and Enforce Next,a an educational approach to preventing plagiarism. Dr. Menager first became interested in developing an intervention for plagiarism prevention after discovering that many of the plagiarizers she caught were inadvertently plagiarizing because they lacked a clear understanding of how to correctly cite their work. Along with Lyn Paulos, she began using TurnitinA(R) to check student work for plagiarism. After implementing their intervention on plagiarism prevention, which informs the approach of this Quick Coach Guide, they found a 90% reduction in student attempts at plagiarizing in all college classes where it was employed. Dr. Menager has also consulted with Dr. Denise Pope, author and originator of the aStressed-Out Student (SOS)a conference (now called aChallenge Successa) at Stanford University, and is currently working on an intervention for students in grades K-12. In her limited spare time, Dr. Menager is an impressionist oil painter, equestrian, and member of a sheriffas mounted search and rescue group. Her son says he wishes he had had a copy of this Quick Coach Guide when he was in college, as it would have made doing his papers a lot easier! See less
