Roger Campbell Kelley was born in the very shadows of the Great Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee in the town of Newport. Roger Campbell Kelley was born in the very shadows of the Great Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee in the town of Newport. He is proudly descended from those pioneer people who, early on in the history of our nation, settled this wild and rugged region of the Appalachian Mountains. His writings have appeared in several national and regional publications over the years including "Hearts On Fire", "The Voices Of Love", and the "Old Hickory Review". He is the author of a series of books that view the long and colorful history of America through the eyes of his ancestors. He is also an accomplished poet. His love of history has led him into the field of movie and documentary films. He has appeared in several major motion pictures that were set within the time frame of the American Civil War as well as the early pioneer days of the 1830's. In addition he has worked on projects for the History Channel, PBS and the National Park Service. He still calls the Smoky Mountains his home. See less
