Robert P Emlen

Emlen is an authority on the material culture of eighteenth- and nineteenth-century America. He was for ten years the executive director of the John Nicholas Brown Center for the Study of American Civilization at Brown University. He is currently university curator and senior lecturer in American civilization at Brown. He also teaches the history of American decorative arts in the department of art and architectural history at the Rhode ISland School of Design.
