Richard Matthews
The author: Richard Matthews was born in Newton Abbot in 1946. He studied at the universities of East Anglia and Vienna, graduating in East Anglia in 1969. He then studied at the University of Edinburgh and was awarded his Ph.D. in 1979. He worked on a project on the tensing system of English from 1983-1985, and has been a co-editor of "Kritikon Litterarum" since 1975.
