Richard 'Doc' Kraft served 22 years of active duty and eight years in the Fleet Reserves. Half of his active duty was served as a Navy corpsman with the Marine Corps. He served mutiple deployments to Okinawa, Vietnam, Cuba, Hawaii and several others. Richard 'Doc' Kraft served 22 years of active duty and eight years in the Fleet Reserves. Half of his active duty was served as a Navy corpsman with the Marine Corps. He served mutiple deployments to Okinawa, Vietnam, Cuba, Hawaii and several others. He is a decorated war veteren, awarded two Purple Hearts, the Bronze Star, Presidential Unit Citaions as well as Navy and Marine Corps Commendations. He retired a Navy Chief Corpsman and served 22 years with the U.S. Postal Service. He was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia from direct exposure to Agent Orange during his tours in Vietnam. He finds writing poetry to be a therapeutic release for post-traumatic stress disorder. Some of these poems and the stories behind them can be found in his book "Now I Lay Me Down to Weep". See less
