Chicago sports anchor. Richard King began his broadcast career with WGN-TV and Radio in 1969. He joined WBBM Newsradio 78 in 1970 as a writer/producer, and became assistant news director/managing editor and was later served as Sports Director from 1985 until 1987, when he joined WBBM-TV. He joined WBBM Newsradio 78 in 1970 as a writer/producer, and became assistant news director/managing editor and was later served as Sports Director from 1985 until 1987, when he joined WBBM-TV. Rich joined the WGN-TV News Department as sports reporter/anchor in August 1991 and was named Illinois Sportscaster of the Year in 1991. He has al so won AP and UPI awards for his sportscasting. He was also awarded an Emmy for his Chicago Bulls coverage in 1996. King spends his time serving on the Board of Directors for the Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind and on the Communications committee of the American Cancer Society. See less
