Richard C. Saylor was the founding president of the Dallastown Area Historical Society (DAHS) and has been employed as an archivist and curator since 1991. He is the author of numerous articles about Pennsylvania history, and his book Soldiers to Governors: Pennsylvania's Civil War Veterans Who Became State Leaders won an Award of Merit from the American Association for State and Local History in 2010. He is the author of numerous articles about Pennsylvania history, and his book Soldiers to Governors: Pennsylvania's Civil War Veterans Who Became State Leaders won an Award of Merit from the American Association for State and Local History in 2010.
