Richard Artschwager

Richard Artschwager was born in 1924 in Washington, D.C., and grew up in New Mexico. He began his studies at Cornell University in 1941 but was called into service for World War II. In 1950 he moved to New York, where he began to design and build furniture, a commercial venture which held great influence over his early sculpture.
